MINUTES OF THE LAKE BARCROFT ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

May 12, 2004

 

The meeting of the Lake Barcroft Association (LBA) was called to order at 7:42 PM by President George McLennan at 6425 Lakeview Drive, Falls Church, Virginia. Those present were LBA Directors Dave Goslin, George McLennan, Regina Derzon, Uri Arkin, David Dale, Pete Walker, Kevin Howe and Diane Davidson and Shirley Timashev. Board members not present were Mac Canter, Karen Wehner and Frank Aukofer. Guests included lake resident, George Erikson.

 

Motion made by Regina to accept George McLennan’s minutes with agreed upon changes. Pete seconded. Minutes of April 14, 2004 were unanimously approved as amended.

 

OLD BUSINESS: None.

 

CALENDAR REVIEW: Dave went over the calendar.

 

TRAFFIC STUDY: David stated that at the next Board meeting, the Board will have to make a decision of the recommendations presented by the Traffic Committee.

 

Dave introduced George Erikson of 6300 Crosswoods Circle who addressed the Board regarding three issues: 1) ARC approval of the architectural plans for 3604 Ridgeway Terrace, 2) modification of lake rules allowing gasoline motors on the lake in the case of an emergency only, including restrictions on motor size and the no-wake rule, and 3) revision of lake policies and procedures regarding major landscaping and construction, including seawalls.

 

Motion made and seconded for the Board to go into executive session at 9:11 PM to discuss change in Barcroft rules. Motion made and seconded that the Board went out of executive session at 9:36 PM.

 

COMMITTEE REPORT

 

SPECIAL EVENTS: Shirley reported that Sand Day would be held this weekend. “Music on the lake” is well underway. Regina is coordinating a Blue Grass & barbeque. Lawson mentioned upcoming lifeguard meeting.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT: Dave reported new insurance company will save LBA approximately $10,000 annually. Charles deSeve has informed Dave that they would like to reduce the WID contribution to build a reserve fund for removal of dredging materials. Presently they would like to reduce their contribution to LBA from $40,000 to $10,000.

 

ARC: Kevin reported Nancy Firestone and Carl Newburg are two new committee members. Reformatted guidelines on the website. Summary sheet will be added as well.

Meeting with Parcel A builders took place on May 25 at 10:00 AM.

 

COMMUNITY PATROL: Police started two weeks ago.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY: May 28 committee meeting on water education at Diane’s house. Diane distributed a flyer on The Watershed Plan Issues Scoping Forum that will take place on June 17.

 

MEMBERSHIP: Regina reported 9 transfers and approximately same amount in disclosure packets.
