The Lake Barcroft Foundation (LBF) Environmental Initiatives Grant Program supports community-based projects that protect, restore, or improve the natural environment of Lake Barcroft and the Cameron Run Watershed.
2026 Grant Cycle
Approximately $4,500 is available for grants in 2026. LBF may fund multiple projects or provide partial funding based on the applications received. Matching funds are not required, although partnerships, volunteer labor, donated materials, and other funding may be considered favorably.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis; there is no strict application deadline.

Eligible Projects
Projects must take place within the Cameron Run Watershed or provide a clear benefit to the watershed. Examples include:
- Water-quality and pollution-prevention projects
- Stream, shoreline, and riparian-buffer restoration
- Erosion control and stormwater management
- Native plantings, tree planting, and habitat restoration
- Invasive plant management
- Projects that reduce runoff into Lake Barcroft, Cameron Run, or their tributaries
- Wildlife and pollinator habitat improvements
- Environmental education and community outreach
- Litter, debris, and watershed cleanups
- Environmental research, monitoring, and data collection
Projects that primarily benefit an individual property owner without providing a broader environmental or watershed benefit are generally not eligible.
Who May Apply?
Lake Barcroft residents, neighborhood groups, schools, nonprofits, community and environmental organizations, and other individuals or organizations may apply. Applicants do not need to live in Lake Barcroft as long as the proposed project provides a demonstrable benefit to Lake Barcroft or the Cameron Run Watershed.
How Grants Are Awarded
Applications will be reviewed by the LBF Environmental Initiatives Grant Committee, which may contact applicants for additional information or consult with individuals who have relevant technical expertise.
The Committee will make funding recommendations to the LBF Board, which has final approval authority. Grants may be fully or partially funded and may be subject to reasonable conditions.
After Your Project
Grant recipients will be asked to provide a brief summary of the work completed, how grant funds were used, the environmental benefits achieved, and photographs or other documentation when appropriate.
